This approximately 2-hour small-group evening tour takes you by vehicle to Banff's best viewpoints from golden hour to sunset. Your guide times each stop at viewpoints and lakeshores to the evening light, so you can watch the mountains change colour as the sun sets and the calm lakes reflect the scenery. Evening is when wildlife in the Bow Valley is most active, and elk, deer and bears are often seen along the route. Program
Get picked up in Banff or Canmore
and head into the national park at dusk
The tour starts 2 hours before sunset. Board the vehicle at The Rundlestone Lodge in Banff or the Impark lot (2801 Bow Valley Trail) in Canmore, then drive about 15 minutes to the scenic roads of Banff National Park. With the daytime crowds gone, you can explore the park at a more relaxed pace.
Visit viewpoints and lakeshores in the evening light
Depending on the light that day, your guide takes you to several of these stops: Two Jack Lake, Lake Minnewanka, the Mount Norquay viewpoint, Surprise Corner, the Bow Falls viewpoint and the Vermilion Lakes. At each stop you get out of the vehicle for about 20 minutes to enjoy the view and take photos. Your guide knows where to park, the best angles and the right time to visit each spot.
Look for wildlife and watch the Rocky Mountain sunset
Evening is when Bow Valley wildlife is most active, and elk, deer and bears are often seen along the route. The tour ends with sunset views over the Canadian Rockies before returning to your pick-up location.
