We loved our tour. Very easy to find. All the staff was very accommodating and their English was great. Lots of humor & we learned lots about the life of bees that we didn’t know before. They also had a nice selection of smaller items we could purchase for gifts. Highly recommend this tour.

Apikol is an urban distillery in the Saint-Roch district of downtown Quebec City, bringing a honey house, meadery, distillery and tasting room together under one roof. It is also an eco-friendly urban farm equipped with facilities designed to reduce its environmental impact.

Watch honeybees at work in a year-round hive

One of the co-owners, a beekeeper and distiller, leads the tour for about 45 minutes. Watch bees at work in a small indoor four-season hive while learning about the world of honeybees.

Learn how honey becomes mead and spirits

Follow the whole process of turning handcrafted honey into mead and fine spirits, from honey extraction and processing to fermentation, distillation, aging, blending and bottling. Discover an eco-friendly distilling process based on local ingredients that focuses on minimizing environmental impact, and chat with the owner about their green projects.

Taste three local meads and spirits

The tour ends with a tasting led by one of the in-house experts. Sample three products such as mead and spirits, with the option to add more for a small extra fee. You can also finish by tasting pure, fresh honey harvested from one of the city's hives.
