In the woods near Alba in Piedmont's Langhe region, follow an expert truffle hunter, the "trifolao", and his truffle dog in search of precious white or black truffles. Learn how, where and why truffles grow in this area, the difference between black and white truffles and how the dogs are trained, and experience the intense aroma of truffles up close. Choose between a 1 hour 30 minute truffle hunt only or a 3 hour 30 minute option that adds a wine tasting including Barolo or Barbaresco. Groups are limited to 10 participants.

Meet your guide near Alba
and head to the truffle woods
Meet your guide in front of the main gate of Alba Cemetery, then follow the guide's car in your own vehicle through the surrounding hills to the trifolao at a secret spot in the woods (5–10 minutes by car). Transportation is not included, so you need your own car.
Hunt for truffles with the trifolao and his dog
Walk through the woods with the expert truffle hunter and his loyal dog and watch the traditional techniques used to find white or black truffles. Learn how, where and why truffles grow here, the difference between black and white truffles and how the dogs are trained, and smell the intense aroma of the truffles.
Rain ponchos and rubber boots are provided. Truffles found during the hunt belong to the hunter, but you can buy them if you wish.
Visit a winery with the wine tasting option
With the 3 hour 30 minute option, after the truffle hunt you drive about 15 minutes from the woods to a winery and taste a variety of wines, including Barolo or Barbaresco, for about 1 hour 30 minutes. The 1 hour 30 minute option includes the truffle hunt only.
※ White truffle season runs from October 1 to January 31; black truffle varieties vary by season.
※ The meeting point may change depending on the truffle hunter's schedule.

For the 1 hour 30 minute option, the guide waits by car outside the main gate of Alba Cemetery; for the 3 hour 30 minute option, the guide waits outside the cemetery gate in front of the Enel XWay electric car charging station. Follow the guide's car in your own vehicle to the woods (5–10 minutes by car); with the wine tasting option you continue to a winery about 15 minutes from the woods. The meeting point may change depending on the truffle hunter's schedule.
