to explore Mount Vodno and Matka Canyon
Meet at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence in Skopje and set off in an air-conditioned vehicle. A certified tour guide accompanies you as you visit Mount Vodno, St. Panteleimon Church, and Matka Canyon, as well as a traditional Macedonian village.
Look out over the Skopje valley from Mount Vodno
Take a scenic drive up Mount Vodno and stay for about 40 minutes for photos. The tour originally includes a cable car ride to the Millennium Cross for panoramic views of the Skopje valley, but the cable car has been suspended since April 29, 2026, so the Millennium Cross currently cannot be visited.
Discover the 12th-century St. Panteleimon Church
Head to the 12th-century St. Panteleimon Church in Gorno Nerezi and spend about 20 minutes there. It is known for its Byzantine architecture and frescoes that showcase the region's cultural heritage. Church entry is included or paid on site depending on your option.
Enjoy nature at Matka Canyon
Finally, spend about 80 minutes at Matka Canyon, surrounded by towering cliffs and clear water, with guide commentary and free time. If you like, take a boat on the emerald lake to visit Vrelo Cave or go kayaking (extra cost). The tour ends back at the museum where it started.
