Walk through Danong Dafu Forest Park

This 1,200-hectare ecological reserve was created by restoring former sugarcane fields to forest. Walk the trails filled with the scent of camphor and pine, then climb the observation deck to look over the forest stretching endlessly toward the distant mountains.

Head to the east coast to see the wide terraced rice fields that stretch to the Pacific shore. Continue north along the coast to Baqi Viewpoint, perched on a cliff where the mountains meet the sea. Watch the waves crash against the black rocks and the many shades of the ocean.

Visit a hilltop cafe and the Hualien Cultural and Creative Park

After the coastal cliffs, stop at a hilltop cafe overlooking the Pacific and relax on its open terrace with sea views. Your final stop is the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, set in a former brewery from the Japanese colonial era, where red-brick buildings blend with art and design spaces.
