Toi Gold Mine on the west coast of Shizuoka's Izu Peninsula began producing gold around the 1370s and became Japan's second-largest gold producer after Sado Gold Mine. At its peak in the Edo period, its estimated output reached 40 tons of gold and 400 tons of silver, and today it operates as a tourist attraction that recreates Edo-period mining scenes with animatronic figures. You can explore Yama Shrine inside the tunnel, the Golden Torii, the Lucky Golden Garden and the Golden Pavilion with its gold-related exhibits. Depending on the option, you can also try panning for real gold or silver, and the mine is just a 15-minute walk from Toi Port.

Inside the mine tunnels, animatronic figures recreate gold mining scenes from the Edo period. The tunnel also houses Yama Shrine, dedicated to Ohyamatsumi-no-Mikoto, the deity of financial luck, good fortune and safety.

The admission area features the Golden Torii gate and the Lucky Golden Garden leading up to it. You can take souvenir photos as you walk through the golden garden and torii.

The Golden Pavilion displays gold ore, a 1/8 scale model of a Sengokubune (Edo-period cargo ship) and a variety of oban and koban gold coins.

In the public area, you can try gold panning to find real gold grains. If you choose a weekday-only option, gold panning (gold) or silver panning is included with admission. There is also a café serving pure gold coffee where you can take a break.
※ Some facilities and event areas may be closed depending on the season.
