The Leshan Giant Buddha is very popular, and ticket lines can be long and crowded. With this ticket, your passport details are registered in the scenic area's system in advance, so on the day of your visit you can skip the ticket office and enter by simply scanning your passport at the mountain gate. The ticket gives access to the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area (mountain park) and Lingyun Temple.
Meet the giant face at head height
Carved into the cliff over about 90 years starting in 713 AD, the Leshan Giant Buddha stands 71 meters tall. Start at the top of the scenic area at the Buddha's head height and see its finely detailed curled hair and huge ears up close.
Walk down the cliff path to the Buddha's feet
As you descend the steep stairs of the plank path carved into the cliff, the Buddha grows larger and larger. From the lower platform, look up at the Buddha from beside its giant feet and take in the majestic statue overlooking the confluence of three rivers.
Stroll around Lingyun Temple
After seeing the Buddha, take your time wandering around the Lingyun Temple area set in the forest behind the statue. Its calm, peaceful atmosphere contrasts with the dramatic cliffs, and you can also see ancient statues carved during the Tang dynasty.
