Spend about 2 hours at Saqqara, about 27 km southwest of Cairo. The Step Pyramid dedicated to King Djoser is a key monument showing how simple mastaba tombs developed into the stepped pyramid form.

View the Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur

Continue to Dahshur, a royal necropolis in the desert on the west bank of the Nile about 40 km south of Cairo, for about 1 hour. Built between 2613 and 2589 BC, the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid are known as some of the oldest and best-preserved pyramids in Egypt.

Meet Ramesses II in the ancient capital of Memphis

Finally, spend about 1 hour in Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt whose history dates back to 3100 BC. See the colossal statue of Ramesses II and the alabaster sphinx before returning to your hotel.
