Travel by private vehicle from Luxor
to the ancient city of Abydos
Your tour guide picks you up from your hotel or Nile cruise ship in Luxor, and you head north to Abydos in an air-conditioned private vehicle. Abydos lies in Sohag Governorate, about 135 km from Luxor and about 420 km south of Cairo.
Explore the Temple of Seti I at Abydos, dedicated to the god of the underworld

The Temple of Seti I, also known as the Great Temple of Abydos, was begun by Pharaoh Seti I and completed by Ramses II. The ancient Egyptians believed that Osiris, god of the underworld, was buried here. The paintings of gods and pharaohs on its walls are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt.
Behind the temple lies the Osireion, and the temple is also known for the Abydos graffiti, ancient Phoenician and Aramaic inscriptions found on its walls.
Discover the colorful Temple of Hathor at Dendera

After Abydos, continue to Dendera, north of Luxor, to visit the temple of Hathor, goddess of love and joy. It is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, and the colors on its walls are still vivid today.
At the end of the tour, return to your hotel in Luxor by private vehicle at around 5:00 PM.
