After pickup at your downtown Shanghai hotel, head to Shanghai Railway Station and board a high-speed train to Suzhou. Enjoy the views along the way, and once in Suzhou, travel comfortably between sights in a private vehicle. On arrival, visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Listen to your guide explain the garden's history as you wander past elegant traditional buildings, pavilions, ponds and walkways. Take a break in a pavilion by the pond and soak up the tranquil atmosphere of this classical garden.

Ride a rickshaw through the old lanes
of Pingjiang Road

On Pingjiang Road, an old street running alongside a canal, hop on a private rickshaw and wind through the narrow lanes for a close-up look at local life. Lunch is a traditional Chinese meal on Pingjiang Road.

Visit Pan Gate and Shantang Street
before returning to Shanghai

Next, explore Pan Gate, an ancient water and land gate built to defend the city against invaders, and stroll through the park to see the well-preserved gate and towers. Finish at Shantang Street, where you can admire old bridges and traditional houses along the river, try local snacks or listen to Pingtan, Suzhou's traditional storytelling music. At the end of the tour, return to Shanghai by high-speed train.
