Koh Samui Lamai Handpan Private Lesson for Beginners

One-to-one handpan lessons
on a forest terrace above Lamai

This private class takes place on a covered terrace in the forest above Lamai, about 5 minutes from the beach, with your instructor one-to-one. No musical background is needed, and you can choose a 2-hour beginner lesson, a 3-hour sunset experience for couples or a 10-hour 3-day course.

Learn how it works, not just patterns

You start playing right away, and instead of a list of patterns to copy, you learn how the handpan works: touch and tone, where the notes are, rhythm and timing, linking short patterns into phrases, listening to other players, and how a piece starts, develops and ends. By the end of the 3-day course you can create a short piece of your own and follow what other players are doing with their hands.

Spread the 3-day course around your trip

The 3-day course is 10 hours in total, split into private sessions of 3, 3 and 4 hours. Take them on three days in a row or spread them over up to two weeks to fit your plans. Exact times are arranged with the instructor after booking.

The handpan is yours for the whole course. Take it back to your hotel or villa and play between lessons so what you learn stays with you.

Learn and relax on a terrace above the sea

Lessons are one-to-one on a roofed forest terrace overlooking the sea, so nobody else hears your first attempts. During breaks you can enjoy coffee, tea, fresh coconut, fruit and healthy snacks.

Your instructor Khan bought his first handpan in 2016 and holds Integral Sound Healing certification from the Academy of Sound Healing and Advanced Sound Facilitation from Shantika Academy. After the course you take home a practice method and video guides, and you can message your teacher for help with no time limit.
