Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura is a historical theme park in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, that faithfully recreates the streets and culture of Japan's Edo period. Shows that visitors of all ages can enjoy are held every day, including a thrilling ninja action show, a gorgeous oiran show and a period comedy full of laughter and tears. From the trick-filled Ninja Maze to shuriken throwing, archery and period costume rental, you can travel back to the Edo period for a day. It is about 10 minutes by car from Noboribetsu Onsen, so it is easy to combine with a hot spring trip.
This is an advance-sale admission ticket for Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura. Stroll freely along streets lined with traditional Edo-period buildings and meet Edo townspeople such as ninja, samurai and oiran. Admission includes viewing of the theater shows.
On the day of your visit, you can re-enter as many times as you like by showing your ticket at the main gate (Otemon).
Shows are held several times a day, including the ninja show at the Kasumi Ninja House, the oiran show at the Japanese Traditional Culture Theater and comedy or samurai shows at the O-Edo Theater. In summer, the outdoor action show at the Ninja Fort outdoor theater is also on the schedule. Show types and times change by season, so please check the timetable on the official website before your visit.
There is plenty to see, such as the trick-filled Ninja Maze and the Haunted Yokai House featuring Japanese yokai legends. At the training hall you can try shuriken throwing and archery, and at the game hall you can enjoy traditional games such as target shooting and ring toss. Activities and games are paid separately on site.
At the Utsuroi-kan photo studio, you can rent ninja, samurai or town girl costumes to walk around the village or take commemorative photos. At Edoya you can paint kokeshi dolls, daruma and spinning tops, and the restaurants and tea house in the village serve snacks such as dango and meals. Costume rental, activities and meals are paid separately.
