Highlights
Sail the frozen Gulf of Bothnia for about 3 hours aboard the icebreaker Arktis from Kemi in Finnish Lapland. Watch up close as the ship breaks through thick sea ice, and try ice floating in the water between the ice wearing a special survival suit. A round-trip shuttle from hotels and the railway station in Kemi to the harbor is included, and you receive a participation certificate after the cruise.
Program
Sail the frozen sea aboard the icebreaker Arktis
Board the icebreaker Arktis at Kemi harbor and sail the icy Gulf of Bothnia for about 3 hours. On board there are two cozy indoor decks and a café with Arctic views. The ship is warm inside, and if you dress warmly you can go out on deck to watch the ship break through the ice.
Float in the icy sea in a survival suit
Wear a special floating survival suit and try ice floating in the water between the ice. Participation is optional and included in the icebreaker experience. If ice conditions allow, you can also walk on the frozen sea, and you receive a participation certificate after the cruise.
Check in at the SnowCastle area and travel by shuttle
Take the shuttle bus from hotels and the railway station in Kemi to the SnowCastle of Kemi area for cruise check-in. After check-in, the shuttle takes you to the harbor about 15 minutes away, and after the cruise you return to central Kemi via the SnowCastle area. Breakfast or lunch buffets at the seaside restaurant and the indoor ice and snow exhibitions are available for an extra charge, so we recommend booking in advance.

Meeting point information:
Please wait outside in front of the pickup building at least 5 minutes before the pickup time. Look for a bus with 'Icebreaker Sampo Shuttle bus' or 'Icebreaker Arktis Shuttle bus' on the windshield. The shuttle may be slightly delayed due to traffic or earlier pickups.
If you travel by car, you can start from the SnowCastle of Kemi area, which has plenty of free parking. Driving to the harbor by private car is not allowed, so please arrive early to check in before the shuttle leaves for the harbor.
