From the Shanhai Health Trail to Gulangyu Island
See Xiamen in one day
This day tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Xiamen and travels by vehicle. In the morning, begin with a walk of about 30 minutes on the Xiamen Shanhai Health Trail, then take an approximately 20-minute ferry across the sea to Gulangyu Island. On the island, your guide leads you through the International Architecture Complex, Shuzhuang Garden, Yuyuan Garden, Sunlight Rock and Gangzaihou Beach.
The group tour is led by a local guide with basic English, and the private tour by an English-speaking guide. The round-trip ferry to Gulangyu and tickets to Shuzhuang Garden and Sunlight Rock are included.
Discover East-meets-West architecture
Stop at the "Most Beautiful Corner," a photo spot known online as "where love meets you," then walk through the Gulangyu International Architecture Complex. With your guide, see landmarks that blend Chinese and Western styles, including the Gulangyu Concert Hall, Union Church and Gulangyu Catholic Church.
Choose a qipao experience or a traditional puppet show
You can choose one of two optional experiences. At Huangjia Garden, once the mansion of an overseas Chinese family, dress up in a qipao, enjoy pastries and drinks in the garden and take photos. At Haitian Tanggou, a classic Chinese-Western building, watch a traditional glove puppet show, an intangible cultural heritage of southern Fujian.
These optional experiences are not included in the tour price and cost about 100 CNY per person. If you skip them, you can stroll and enjoy the scenery at no extra cost. Huangjia Garden and Haitian Tanggou are not part of the group tour itinerary.
Take in island views from Shuzhuang Garden and Sunlight Rock
Pass through Yuyuan Garden, home to a white marble statue of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi and a memorial hall, then explore Shuzhuang Garden, where history and nature come together. Next, climb to the top of Sunlight Rock for a 360° view over Gulangyu and hear the story behind its name.
Finally, enjoy about 30 minutes of free time at Gangzaihou Beach to walk on the sand or take photos. After the tour, return to Xiamen by ferry.
