the Gaobei Tulou Cluster of Fujian
This day tour picks you up at your hotel on Xiamen Island and takes you by bus to the Gaobei Tulou Cluster in Yongding, Longyan. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Fujian Tulou, Gaobei is home to large communal earthen houses. In a small group of up to 8 people, you'll learn about the history and architecture of the tulou with a Mandarin-speaking guide, and entry tickets to the listed sites are included.
Stop at a rest area and enjoy

The bus ride from Xiamen to the tulou takes about 3 hours, with a roughly 40-minute break at a fruit stand along the way. After arriving in Gaobei, you'll have free time to look around, followed by a 30-minute tea break with tulou specialties and lunch.

After lunch, a guided tour of the Gaobei Tulou Cluster takes about 3 hours. At Chengqi Lou, learn about the history and unique design of the tulou, then visit Shize Lou, known for its scholarly heritage, to see its cobblestone entrance and traditional architecture.
See Wuyun Lou and Qiaofu Lou
before returning to Xiamen
Admire Wuyun Lou, called the "Immortal Tulou" for its earthquake- and fire-resistant design, from the outside. Finally, visit Qiaofu Lou, also known as the "Doctor's Tulou," where Eastern and Western architectural styles blend. After the tour, ride the bus about 3 hours back to Xiamen, with a 20-minute stop at the Tianbao fruit service station.
