Board a coach in Edinburgh and explore Glencoe and Loch Ness, two of the Scottish Highlands' signature sights, in a single day. Your local driver-guide shares stories about Scottish traditions and nature, the Loch Ness Monster 'Nessie', kilts and Highland cows. You'll get photo time in front of Glencoe's dramatic highland scenery, and at Loch Ness you can add a loch cruise or a visit to Urquhart Castle depending on your option. This full-day tour is eco-certified.
Depart from central Edinburgh and head to the Highlands in an air-conditioned coach. Along the way, enjoy your guide's entertaining commentary and Scottish music.
At the first stop, Callander, take a short coffee break. If you're lucky, you may meet the famous Highland cows (depending on the season; less likely in winter).
On the way to Glencoe, hear the story of the clan massacre accompanied by traditional music. At Glencoe, stop briefly to take photos against the highland landscape.
In the Fort William area, there's a short stop for lunch. Your guide can recommend places to eat, and if you like, you can get a short introduction to the kilt.
After lunch, head to Loch Ness for free time. Depending on your option, visit the 16th-century ruins of Urquhart Castle on the shore and take a 30-minute cruise, or look for 'Nessie' on a 60-minute cruise. If you don't want a cruise or castle visit, enjoy the view of Loch Ness from the pier.
You can also relax at the hotel or join the 20–30 minute 'Donald Fraser – Illicit Whisky Experience' inside the hotel (extra cost £12). Walking the Old Coffin Road trail, which starts from the hotel car park, is another option.
Travel along the shore of Loch Ness, then pass Inverness and head back south. On the way, stop in the Victorian town of Pitlochry for a snack and free time, and arrive in central Edinburgh around 20:30.
