Highlights
This submarine tour takes you down to a depth of up to 45m below the sea in the Maldives. Without snorkeling or diving, and without getting wet, you can see the Maldives' underwater world, including coral gardens, tropical fish and caves, through the submarine windows. Stop at depths of 25m, 40m and 45m in turn to see how the underwater scenery changes with each depth. Pickup from accommodation in Malé and Hulhumalé, speedboat transfers and the submarine fee are included, and the tour runs in small groups of up to 10 people.
Program
Head to the submarine boarding point by speedboat
After pickup from your accommodation in Malé or Hulhumalé or from Velana International Airport, travel about 30 minutes by speedboat to the submarine boarding point. Once you board and take your seat, watch through the viewing window as the submarine begins its descent into the clear sea. The tour lasts about 2 hours 30 minutes with an English-speaking guide, including a submarine dive of about 45 minutes.
See coral gardens at 25m and 40m
At the first stop, about 25m deep, you can see colorful corals, schools of blue- or yellow-striped snapper, stingrays, yellow boxfish and turtles. The submarine then descends to about 40m to explore deeper coral gardens and cave areas, where whitetip reef sharks and Napoleon fish occasionally appear.
Descend to the deepest point at 45m
Finally, descend to about 45m to take in an even deeper underwater environment. After looking out for caves, schools of fish and turtles through the windows, the submarine slowly rises to the surface. You then return by speedboat in about 30 minutes, and the tour ends in Malé.
