This tour takes you by bike through Athens' main sights and local neighbourhoods as the sun goes down. Take in the panoramic view of the city near the National Observatory on Philopappos Hill, and capture sunset photos in front of the Panathenaic Stadium, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. Riding through neighbourhoods such as Thiseio, Psirri and Plaka and hidden alleys away from busy roads is another highlight of this tour. Groups are limited to 12 participants, and depending on your option you ride a city bike or an e-bike.
Program
Start below the Acropolis Hill
and ride through Athens at sunset
Meet your tour leader at the starting point at the foot of the Acropolis Hill and set off after a safety briefing and a short introduction to the tour. Depending on the option you choose, you ride a city bike or an e-bike through Athens at dusk with an English-speaking tour leader.
Take in the city view from Philopappos Hill
As the sun begins to set, head to Philopappos Hill and enjoy the panoramic view of Athens near the National Observatory. Then move on to the Thiseio area to see the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos and pass by the Ancient Greek Agora and the Roman Agora.
Ride through the alleys of Psirri and Plaka
Pass through Psirri, a local favourite full of cafés, restaurants and street food spots, and head to the souvenir market in Plaka. After passing several landmarks, explore a hidden neighbourhood that looks like a Greek island postcard in the sunset light.
Finish the tour at the Panathenaic Stadium and the Temple of Zeus
As the sun sinks lower, ride along the wide pedestrian paths around the Zappeion Hall and see the Panathenaic Stadium, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. On the way to the Presidential Mansion, you also have a chance to stop briefly and watch the changing of the guard. Just before the sun sets behind the Acropolis, arrive in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch and end the tour taking photos against the sunset sky.
