After pickup from your hotel in central Luang Prabang, spend about 9 hours visiting the Mekong River by boat, Pak Ou Caves, Kuang Si Falls, the whisky village, and a Hmong village. An English-speaking guide accompanies you, and lunch and entrance fees to the listed sights are included.

With the upstream cruise option, you take the boat to Pak Ou Caves in the morning and visit Kuang Si Falls in the afternoon. With the downstream cruise option, you visit Kuang Si Falls first in the morning and take a cruise from Pak Ou Caves in the afternoon. Choose between a group tour and a private tour.

Cruise along the Mekong by long-tail boat

After hotel pickup between 8:15 and 8:45 AM, head to the pier and board a long-tail slow boat onto the Mekong River. Watch rural Lao scenery and everyday riverside life with villages, fishermen, and children along the banks.

After a little over an hour, stop briefly at Ban Xang Hai, known as the whisky village. See how Lao Lao, the rice whisky loved by locals, is made and taste local specialties.

Explore Pak Ou Caves filled with Buddha statues

Arriving at Pak Ou Caves along the Mekong, climb the stairs from the small boat landing straight into the caves. These limestone Buddhist caves have been a place of worship for centuries and are filled with countless Buddha images and statues placed by worshippers over the years.

Walk and swim at Kuang Si Falls

After the boat trip, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and head to Kuang Si Falls. Explore the three-tiered falls, walk the nature reserve trails, and have time to swim in the cool turquoise pools.

Visit a Hmong village and return to town

On the way back to Luang Prabang, stop at Ban Na Ouane Hmong village to see local life and watch traditional embroidery being made. The tour usually ends between 5:30 and 6:00 PM at the post office on the main street near the night market or at your accommodation.
