Meet your guide at the meeting point in Hoi An Old Town, receive a paper lantern and walk together to the nearby riverside pier. Board a traditional wooden boat just for your group, enjoy about 10–15 minutes along the Hoai River admiring the lantern-lit old town, and float your lantern on the water. This is a short, simple experience focused on the night scenery and atmosphere rather than guided commentary.

Walk to the pier with your guide

Vehicles are not allowed in the old town, so the activity is entirely on foot. At the meeting point your guide checks your booking, hands out paper lanterns and leads you to the riverside pier. During the busy hours of 18:30–19:30, you may wait about 15–30 minutes at the pier before boarding.

Cruise the river in your own wooden boat

Each boat carries 1–5 passengers and is not shared with other travelers. Depending on river traffic, cruise for about 10–15 minutes and take in the lantern-lit old town and the colorful reflections on the water.

Release your lantern with the rower's help

Once aboard, the local rower helps you light your lantern. The lantern release takes place during the ride depending on the boat's position and river conditions. The rower does not speak English. The activity ends when the boat returns to the pier.
