Matsushima Rikyu is a two-story wooden sightseeing complex that opened in October 2020, with restaurants, shops, workshops and a museum. The 1-day passport includes admission to the rooftop garden, the Rikyu Garden and the Rikyu Museum.
Take in Matsushima Bay from the rooftop
From the rooftop garden "Picnic in the Sky", enjoy an unbroken view of Matsushima Bay. Each season brings something different: cherry blossoms in spring, outdoor BBQ in summer, illuminated autumn leaves and the harvest moon in autumn, and the snow-covered Godaido Temple in winter.

The Rikyu Garden expresses the graceful form of Matsushima and is illuminated throughout the year. With Yoshino cherry trees, camellias and Japanese maples, you can feel nature in every season.
Rikyu Museum and hands-on space
The Rikyu Museum on the 2nd floor displays the history and fossils of Matsushima Bay, the Tohoku region and the origins of Japan. Rikyu Hall on the same floor is an experience and learning space where you can paint a kokeshi doll, a traditional Miyagi craft, and join workshops that change daily.
