Sendai Night Walking Tour - AER Observatory & Kokubuncho

Meet your guide in front of the stained glass near the 2nd-floor central ticket gate of Sendai Station and head to the AER observatory. Go up to the 31st floor to enjoy a panoramic night view of Sendai below, then walk down to explore the streets you just saw from above.

Walk Aoba-dori and the covered arcades

Head into central Sendai and walk along Aoba-dori, a wide avenue lined with zelkova trees that suits Sendai's nickname, the "City of Trees". Continue into the covered shopping arcades including Ichibancho and feel everyday life in central Sendai on pedestrian streets full of restaurants, cafes, shops and evening crowds. The roof makes it comfortable even in bad weather.

Pass through neon-lit Kokubuncho

As the evening deepens, head to Kokubuncho, Sendai's most famous entertainment district, where neon signs, restaurants, izakaya, alleys and late-night venues come together. This is not a bar-hopping tour; instead, you experience the area itself while your guide shares local nightlife, food recommendations and details that are easy to miss on your own.

Finish on tree-lined Jozenji-dori

Leave the neon streets behind and continue to Jozenji-dori, one of Sendai's most iconic avenues. Walk beneath the trees surrounded by city lights, statues and open public spaces, and enjoy a calm atmosphere in contrast to Kokubuncho. If you like, your guide can help take travel photos with your phone or camera. The tour ends around Jozenji-dori or Kotodai Park, where you are free to continue with dinner or an evening stroll.
