Highlights
This 1.5-hour night photo walk takes you up Mt. Aoba with a local guide to look down on Sendai's night view from the Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle) ruins. Hear the story of the warlord who founded Sendai and take souvenir photos in front of the illuminated equestrian statue of Date Masamune. At the castle ruins lookout, capture night views and portraits against city lights stretching to the horizon. Meet at International Center Station
and head up quiet Mt. Aoba
Meet your guide at Exit 1 (West Exit) of the subway International Center Station to start the tour. Climb into the Mt. Aoba area, a hill overlooking the city, leaving the busy streets behind for a quiet highland landscape rich in nature and history.
See the illuminated statue of Date Masamune
Stop at the equestrian statue of Date Masamune, the legendary warlord who founded Sendai. Lit up at night, it is a proud symbol of the city. Take photos while your guide explains Masamune's legacy and his influence on Sendai's history.
Capture the night view from the Sendai Castle ruins
The highlight of the tour is the Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle) ruins. From the lookout around the ruins, enjoy a panoramic view of city lights stretching to the horizon. On clear nights the glowing skyline contrasts with the dark mountains and sky, making it ideal for long-exposure shots and portraits. Throughout the tour, your guide helps you find the best angles, lighting and composition.
