Head into the Saariselkä night sky
in a warm vehicle
After pickup from your accommodation in Saariselkä village, the tour departs at around 11:00 PM and spends about 3 hours searching for the Northern Lights. It runs late at night, when the aurora is most active. A local guide who knows the area well checks the real-time weather and aurora forecasts, chooses the best direction for the night and drives to the darkest skies far from the village lights.
Step out where the aurora may appear and look up
Along the way, stop at places with a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights, get out of the car and enjoy the Arctic night sky. The tour runs in small groups of up to 8 people, and the guide speaks English and Finnish.
Enjoy hot drinks and snacks under the stars
At one of the stops, warm up under the stars with hot drinks from a thermos and light snacks.
Your guide takes the travel photos
Your guide takes travel photos during the tour and sends them to you for free afterwards. Instead of adjusting camera settings in the cold, you can simply enjoy the moment. After the tour, you are dropped off where you were picked up, returning at around 2:00 AM.
