Xitou Nature Education Area has a cool climate all year round, so visitors come in every season. It is open daily 07:00–17:00.

Walk past the boulder-wrapped sacred red cypress and cedar forest

The best-known sight is the sacred red cypress tree wrapped around a large boulder. Though hollow and decayed, it still stands full of life. Beside the forest road to the sacred tree is a cedar forest that has grown for half a century, with a well-preserved canopy.

Look down on the forest from a sky walk 20 m above the ground

Built to observe the cedar forest canopy, the sky walk is about 180 m long and more than 20 m above the ground (as high as a 7-story building). Walking above the trees makes for a special outdoor experience.

Use it with the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Xitou Line

There is also an option that adds a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Xitou Line bus card with NT$180 in stored value. The route starts at Taichung Gancheng Station and passes Taichung Railway Station, Daqing Station and THSR Taichung Station, and Line 1 passes attractions such as Luzhi Valley (Zhongxing Tea Garden Station), the Chelungpu Fault parking lot, Neihu Elementary School and Xitou Nature Education Area.
