Walk with your guide through the gardens on both banks of the Rhine in Strasbourg, then cross the bridge linking the two countries to Kehl, Germany, in this small-group walking tour of about 1 hour 30 minutes. In a single tour, you explore both France and Germany on foot. It is led by an English- or French-speaking guide for up to 6 people.
Pass through a developing district and the Rhine port
The tour starts in the Coopérative district, which is currently under development. After passing through, you arrive at the Jardin des Deux Rives and hear about Strasbourg's industrial history around the Port du Rhin, one of the largest ports on the Rhine. You also see famous works by local artists and learn about the city's street art culture.
Cross the bridge to Kehl in Germany
Cross the pedestrian and cycle bridge, opened in 2003, to pass from one country to the other. The bridge lets people in Strasbourg go to Germany at any time of day and is a symbol of freedom of movement. Kehl, across from Strasbourg, is the first German town after crossing the Rhine, and your guide talks about life at the border and the cultural and architectural differences between the two countries.
