This was a good tour but we expected a much longer tour. It was probably about 75 minutes and then we went to the War Rooms. We thought it was at least a couple of hours prior to entry to the War Rooms. Our War Room ticket was included and that is expensive on it's own. Our guide did not go into the War Rooms. We were expecting more. We walked in a small area, talked about the Blitz, etc. but it wasn't as good as other tours we've had in London. We didn't fault the guide, it was just designed differently that we thought. On the description it says 3 hrs. but we thought it was that and THEN the War Rooms but they actually meant just over an hour and then we would spend 2 hrs. in the War Rooms. So we were disappointed.

Highlights

Walk through Westminster as it was during the Second World War with a local English-speaking expert guide, and learn what decisions were made at the heart of British democracy. Pass famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Cenotaph, 10 Downing Street and Whitehall while hearing stories of wartime London. The tour runs in a small group of up to 15 people, and afterwards you enter the Churchill War Rooms to explore, at your own pace with an audio guide, the underground bunker from which Winston Churchill and his cabinet directed the war.

Program

Step back into 1940s London
and walk through Westminster

Picture London during the Second World War, when Big Ben fell silent and air-raid sirens were part of daily life, as you walk around Westminster. Your guide tells the stories of citizens living with rationing and restrictions, and of the many Britons who gave their lives in Europe and beyond.

Discover Westminster's wartime landmarks

Pass important monuments such as the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Cenotaph, the former War Office, 10 Downing Street and Whitehall, and learn what really happened in Westminster during the war. You will also hear about Churchill's life and legacy.

Explore the Churchill War Rooms bunker at your own pace

After the Westminster walking tour, say goodbye to your guide and head down into the Churchill War Rooms. Explore the underground bunker from which Winston Churchill and his cabinet directed the Second World War, freely and with an audio guide. The tour ends at the Churchill War Rooms.

※ The tour runs regardless of the weather.
※ All visitors must pass a security check when entering the Churchill War Rooms.
