Saga Torokko Train
The Kyoto Sagano Romantic Train is a sightseeing train that runs on the old Sanin Main Line tracks after the electrification of the JR Sanin Main Line. The train, with its red body and gold and black patterns, travels 7.3 km between Saga Station and Kameoka Station in about 25 minutes, allowing you to see the beauty of each season.
You can ride a local train and look out the window at the autumn leaves and river. The experience of riding a train and seeing the beautiful scenery change with the seasons is something that can only be experienced on a Torokko train, and it is one of the reasons why not only Japanese locals but also travelers from all over the world flock to Kyoto with the changing seasons.
Since the Torokko train is available on a first-come, first-served basis, you must make a reservation in advance to travel without worrying about boarding.
How to get to the Torokko Train
The Kyoto Sagano Romantic Train can be boarded at Kameoka, Hozukyo, Arashiyama, and Saga Stations. This product is a 25-minute train ride from Saga Station to Kameoka.
1. When departing from Kyoto Station:
From Kyoto Station, take the JR Sagano Line to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station - Go to the South Exit (approximately 17 minutes)
2. When departing from Shijo and Karasuma:
From Kyoto Municipal Subway Shijo Station to Kyoto Station, transfer to JR Sagano Line - Go to South Exit (approximately 20 minutes)

From Saga Station to Kameoka
This train is a downward train from Saga to Kameoka Station. It is even better because you can get off at Arashiyama in the middle and spend some leisurely time! It is also good even if you just run. You can see a pretty view, and you can see Arashiyama from the train, so it is really popular.
* Please note that although you can get off the Torokko train midway within the designated section, re-boarding is not allowed.
