In 2026, the most captivating destination in Taiwan's Taichung is undoubtedly the 'Taichung Green Museumbrary.' This unique space, a fusion of a museum and a library, became a pilgrimage site for architects and art enthusiasts worldwide upon its opening in December 2025.
Eight Clouds Crafted by a Master's Hand

The Museumbrary was designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architectural duo SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa), giants of contemporary Japanese architecture. Ryue Nishizawa projected his childhood wish – 'I wanted to learn the knowledge within a museum while viewing its exhibits' – into this space.
Eight buildings of varying sizes and heights are organically connected by sky bridges, allowing visitors to freely navigate the boundaries of knowledge and art. The subtle aluminum mesh material enveloping the buildings makes the massive eight structures appear like a single, light cloud. Beneath these white clouds, which shift their expression with the angle of the light, you'll begin a unique experience of reading art and viewing knowledge.
A 'Green' Urban Oasis Where the Wind Lingers

Located in the heart of Taichung Central Park, this space harmonizes perfectly with nature, living up to its name. The unique structure, with parts of the building elevated from the ground, allows the park's breeze to flow naturally between the structures. This isn't just an aesthetic choice; it's the essence of eco-friendly architecture, acting as a natural air conditioner to cool Taiwan's heat and reduce energy consumption.
Ascend to the 'Culture Forest' on the rooftop. The osmanthus fragrance, beloved by Taiwanese people, will greet your senses, and the panoramic view of Taichung city unfolds before your eyes. Here, where the park's greenery meets modern architecture, citizens can relax while reflecting on the lingering impressions of art.
