The Hamamatsu Diorama Factory is a permanent exhibition of works by Takuji Yamada, a sculptor known for depicting nostalgic Showa-era scenery in scale models. You can enjoy his dioramas whenever you visit, and a visit takes about 1 hour.

Takuji Yamada was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka in 1959 and was fascinated by model making from an early age. In junior high school he won prizes every year at a model contest held at a local department store, and in high school he started a model club. In 1978 he moved to Tokyo, where he began writing for the model magazine "Monthly Hobby Japan" while studying, and after graduating he worked at an industrial model manufacturing company.
After returning to Hamamatsu in 1987, he worked as a freelance professional modeler, creating product prototypes and scenes for events. He has held diorama exhibitions in Shizuoka, Hamamatsu, Tottori, Okinawa and elsewhere, and has also taught model classes and appeared on TV.

The museum is about a 5-minute walk from JR Hamamatsu Station or Entetsu Shin-Hamamatsu Station. If you take the Entetsu Bus, the nearest stops are "Zaza City Mae", "Kajimachi", "Tamachi Chuo Dori" and "Tenmacho". By car, it is about 16 minutes from Hamamatsu IC on the Tomei Expressway, and you can use the nearby Hamamatsu Municipal Zaza City Parking Lot (fee required).
