I was wondering if I really needed to make a reservation, but when I got there, I found that tickets were sold out from the day up to about the third day. I booked well in advance, taking travel time into account, but after dropping off my luggage and looking around the building a bit, it was already time to enter, so I went right in! I highly recommend visiting if you go to Switzerland.
