Walk Kikuchi Gorge

Depart by bus from HEARTS Bus Stop Hakata or Fukuoka Central Post Office, take a short break at Tamana Service Area and arrive at Kikuchi Gorge. Stroll along the clear emerald stream shaded by red leaves and enjoy the autumn forest with the sound of water.
Ginkgo-gold Kumamoto Castle and Sakuranobaba Josaien
In the afternoon, move to Kumamoto Castle, counted among Japan's three great castles. Also called the 'Ginkgo Castle', it is surrounded by huge ginkgo trees that turn gold in autumn (castle admission not included). Below the castle, enjoy lunch and autumn snacks freely at Sakuranobaba Josaien, a recreated Edo-period castle town (meals not included).
Finish at Suizenji Jojuen Garden
Finally, stroll around the pond and carefully tended hills of the traditional Japanese garden Suizenji Jojuen. If you like, enjoy matcha at Kokin-Denju-no-Ma, a tea house moved from the Kyoto Imperial Palace (at your own cost). Afterward, return to Fukuoka by bus.
