Terelj National Park and the Milky Way
About an hour's drive from Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar, Terelj is the perfect place to experience Mongolia's magnificent nature, with its pristine skies, endless grasslands, and star-filled nights. Experience horseback riding through the vast plains of Terelj National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a traditional Mongolian lamb dish, "khorkhog," in a ger, a traditional Mongolian nomadic dwelling, and gaze at the starry night sky, truly experiencing the great outdoors.
About Terelj National Park

Terelj National Park is a must-see for travelers to Mongolia, located approximately 70 kilometers from the capital, Ulaanbaatar. It's a popular tourist destination because it offers the closest glimpse of Mongolia's natural beauty and landscapes from Ulaanbaatar. This destination offers a diverse array of Mongolian attractions, including the vast grasslands, mountains intertwined with rock formations and forests, the livestock of nomadic people, and traditional Mongolian gers.
The Milky Way seen from the ger

Mongolia has evolved from a traditional nomadic society to one with fixed dwellings centered around major cities. However, even today, most Mongolians living on the grasslands outside the capital, Ulaanbaatar, still live in gers, round, portable tents made of woven wood with walls covered with wool felt and white cloth. While modern apartments began to be built in the 1960s, only about 60% of Mongolians still live in apartments, with the remaining 40% living in gers. You can experience a ger firsthand.
You can also see the beautiful Milky Way at night. Mongolia is renowned as one of the world's top three stargazing destinations, and you can systematically observe constellations through stargazing programs.
