The Swiss Pass is divided into four categories: adult, youth, child, and infant. Let’s find out what the age standards are for each.
1. Adult:
25 years or older
Those aged 25 or older can use a youth ticket.
2. Youth (Youth):
Ages 16 - 25

3. Children:
Ages 6 - 15
4. Infant:

How To Use
- When making a reservation, you must enter the representative information once more in the User 1 field.
- Depending on the option you choose, you can use it for 3 consecutive days / 4 days / 6 days / 8 days / 15 days.
- E-tickets will be issued as PDF files and sent to you by email.
- E-tickets will be sent 24 hours after your reservation is confirmed.
- Be sure to print and use a PDF file with a QR code.
- Since the start date and personal information are all filled out before the ticket is issued, there is no need to fill it out separately, just print it out and present it with your passport.
- Benefits are valid from 00:00 AM to 23:59 PM on the start date.
- The Swiss Pass is reserved with a specified activation date, so separate activation at the train station is not required.
- The 1st class pass can be used for both 1st and 2nd class. The 2nd class pass is only valid for 2nd class travel.
- If you want to use 1st class with a 2nd class pass, you can upgrade by purchasing a seat locally.
- In general, seat reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance of the departure date, and seats are limited.
What to Remember
- When making a reservation, you must enter the representative information once more in the User 1 field.
- We recommend that you purchase travel insurance in case of an emergency while traveling abroad.
- The 1st class pass can be used for both 1st and 2nd class. The 2nd class pass is only valid for 2nd class travel.
- Days are counted from the start date and vary depending on the option selected.
- The start date listed at the time of reservation cannot be changed after reservation.
- It is not confirmed until you receive the voucher. (In case of applications received after WAUG Customer Center operating hours, we will inform you sequentially whether confirmation is possible after the Customer Center operating hours the next day.)
Age standard (based on start date)
- Adult: 25 years or older
- Youth: 16 to 25 years old
- Children: 6 to 15 years old (free for adults holding a Swiss Pass and presenting a family card)
- For immediate family members, the Swiss Pass can be used free of charge by children, regardless of the number of children per parent, according to the family card policy.
- Family cards cannot be purchased individually.
- Children who are accompanied by an adult other than an immediate family member will incur a fee.
- Children under 6 years old are free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket.
- Swiss Family Card: Children under 16 travel free when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who holds a Swiss Travel System Pass.
- Please select the appropriate option to receive your Swiss Family Card when making your reservation.
- If you book a child and select a family card, the family card will be emailed to you along with the adult pass.
- One document is issued per child. Seat reservations incur additional costs.
- Children under 6 years old travel free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket
How to make a reservation
- When reserving an E Pass, you can select a start date from 4 business days later.
- When traveling with 3 or more children per parent, please select 1 adult, apply family card (3 children) to enter information for all children.
- After receiving the pass by email, please make sure that the English spelling, age type, pass details (country of use, etc.), start date, and seat class are correctly entered.
- When making a reservation, the English name you enter must match the English name on your passport.
- Changes to the start date or personal information after ticketing must be reissued before departure. Reissue is not possible in Switzerland.
- Tickets are available on the business day after the reservation is confirmed. It will be sent via email within 24 hours.
- Partially used passes are non-refundable.
- When making a reservation, you must provide all reservation information for all guests. (including children and teenagers)
Cancellation and Refund
85% refund of paid amount only for passes not activated 1 day prior to start date
Refunds are not possible for passes whose start date has passed (cancellation requests cannot be confirmed until 5 p.m. on Fridays and cancellation requests on weekends/holidays cannot be confirmed)
