In search of Marie Antoinette's traces,
Chapel of Atonement
This building was built on the site of the old Madeleine Cemetery. To celebrate the wedding of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, a large-scale festival was held at the Place de la Concorde, where a stampede killed a man. The Madeleine Cemetery commemorates him. Also, the 500 bodies of those executed here, including Marie Antoinette and her husband in the 16th century, were buried here, and the Chapel of the Atonement was built to commemorate them.
The way to the beautiful chapel
The path to the Chapel of the Atonement is decorated with white flowers, which is in honor of Marie Antoinette and her husband. The interior of the chapel also has various flower decorations for the same reason. That's why the path is really pretty.
Inside the Splendid Chapel of Atonement
The interior of the Chapel of the Atonement, dedicated to Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI, is not large, but there is much to see, including the splendid twilight patterns that symbolize the absolute monarchy of France, various flowers, and a statue of Marie Antoinette and her husband.
