Discover a gorgeous private collection
The Mauritzhaus Museum is a building built in 1681 by Johann Mauritz, governor of the Netherlands, to store his personal collection. In 1822, it was sold to the Dutch government and opened as a national art gallery, and currently houses about 800 works. You can admire works by painters representing the Dutch Golden Age, such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Frans Hals, as well as works from other European countries, including Flanders, Germany, and Italy.
