Otaru Kibinkan
The former Aoyama Villa, known as the Otaru Kihinkan, is a luxurious villa built during the Meiji period for the Nisshin Fisheries Commissioner. The villa, measuring approximately 1,400 square meters, took six and a half years to build. The exterior of the building, the bedrooms, hallways, and bathrooms were designed by first-class craftsmen, and there are valuable works of art inside. The garden is a place where you can feel the scenery of the prosperous trade at the time, and every summer, about 500 hydrangeas bloom, harmonizing with the traditional architecture and decorating the garden beautifully.

Reasons to visit Otaru Kihinkan
The Otaru Kihinkan was built by the Aoyama family. The interior is filled with precious works of art, and the first floor hall has a ceiling painting by a Hokkaido artist. The garden has about 400 peonies and 250 rose hips, making it a luxurious villa.
