Tour to the heart of history
Seoul is a unique city where our old heritage and modern Korean culture coexist. On this tour, take the time to walk through Korean culture, visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace, the symbol of the Joseon Dynasty, and the National Folk Museum, where you can see the lives of our ancestors.
Gwanghwamun, the light that shines widely
This tour starts at Gwanghwamun. Gwanghwamun, the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, means 'light shines widely', and it is a representative landmark of Seoul, boasting majesty even among the forest of tall buildings.
Start your journey back in time to the Joseon Dynasty at Gwanghwamun, the gateway to Gyeongbokgung Palace.
Into the serenity of a temple, Jogyesa Temple
Jogyesa Temple is one of the best-known temples in Korea. It is located between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insa-dong, and is also the headquarters of the Jogye Church, the largest Buddhist sect in the United States. It is an impressive place with architecture that allows you to feel the essence of Buddhist culture and a quiet atmosphere unique to the temple.
How about taking a walk around Jogyesa Temple and taking some healing time?
number
When the magnificent sound of the big drum rings out in Gyeongbokgung Palace, it means that it is time for the guard, who is always reliably guarding Gwanghwamun, to change. The changing ceremony, in which the traditional gatekeepers wear their uniforms and take place in unison, is meaningful in that it is a reenactment of a historical scene, and it is a must-see ceremony if you visit Gyeongbokgung Palace as you can see the gatekeepers full of moderation and dignity.
Gyeongbokgung Palace, the best royal palace of Joseon
Gyeongbokgung Palace is the highest royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, where the Joseon royal family resided. In addition to the scale and grandeur of a royal palace, the beautifully decorated pond and landscaping centered around Gyeonghoeru serve as a good resting place for visitors.
Each building contains the large and small history, politics, and royal culture of Joseon, so it is a place where you can fully enjoy the value of it during a guided tour. It's also nice to imagine what life was like during the Joseon Dynasty among people wearing hanbok and walking around the palace.
National Folk Museum, where a biography of Korean history unfolds
At the National Folk Museum located within Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can experience Korea’s diverse traditional culture and folk arts that have changed over time.
It is a museum where you can take a look at the history of Korea at a glance, as it not only recreates the lifestyle of the Joseon Dynasty but also the modern and contemporary times when electricity was first used. Go beyond boring history studies and experience history alive with vivid images of life.
Past the Blue House to Insa-dong
The tour ends in Insa-dong after passing the Blue House, the presidential residence.
The Blue House is located right behind Gyeongbokgung Palace and is where the president stayed and monitored state affairs until just a few years ago. It was given the name ‘Blue House’ because of its blue-tiled exterior. Insa-dong is dense with art galleries, traditional craft stores, and galleries, and is full of various exhibitions and souvenirs related to Korean art, allowing you to feel the tradition in the city.
