Ancient hot spring resort,
Xi'an Huaqing Palace
Xi'an Huaqing Palace is an ancient hot spring resort that was loved by the imperial family and ministers of the Tang Dynasty. It is a tourist attraction where the baths used by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang and Yang Guifei are preserved as they were. Huaqing Palace is famous as a place where Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei fell in love, but it is also famous for the beautiful pond scenery that spreads out across the vast grounds.
Feel the history as you visit the bathhouse where Emperor Xianzong and Yang Guifei actually enjoyed the hot springs, and take a commemorative photo with the beautiful scenery of Huaqing Palace in the background!
The historical city of Xi'an
famous tourist destination
Xi'an, known as the city of the west, is a city that preserves Chinese history and culture. As Xi'an was the capital of China for a long time, there are many historical sites. Along with the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and the Terracotta Army, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Xi'an is the Huaqing Palace. The Huaqing Palace is the place where the sad love story of Emperor Xuanzong, the sixth emperor of the Tang Dynasty, and Yang Guifei is buried.
Poppy Bath
There are five bathhouses in Hwacheonggung Palace that Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei enjoyed using. The Tangtang, where Yang Guifei actually bathed, is a small and cozy flower-shaped bathhouse, while the Yeonhwatang, which was Emperor Xuanzong’s private bathhouse, is large and majestic, making it fun to compare.
Also, at Seongjintang and Sangsiktang, where Yang Guifei and Emperor Xianzong bathed together, you can experience the hot spring culture of the Tang Dynasty, when the love between the two people matured.
The charm of Hwacheonggung Palace
As soon as you enter the main gate of Hwacheonggung Palace, the wide Buyongwon Garden unfolds before your eyes, famous for being the most beautiful scenery in Hwacheonggung Palace, making it a great place to take commemorative photos. In addition, in the square with five baths, there is a statue of Yang Guifei emerging from a bath, which is also a popular photo spot for tourists.
Hwacheonggung Palace is a large palace with an area of 180,000 pyeong, so there is a Ferris wheel that you can ride around the palace. If you want to see all of Hwacheonggung Palace without getting tired, I recommend using the Ferris wheel!
