Nitori Museum of Art, a special space where nature and art harmonize.
The Nitori Museum of Art, a complex cultural space established by the Nitori Group, offers a harmonious blend of nature and art in the heart of Sapporo. The Nitori Museum of Art is housed in the former Hokkaido Bank Otaru Branch, built in 1923. Spanning five floors, from the basement level to the fourth aboveground, the museum retains the bank's majestic columns, arched windows, and marble walls, creating a sense of time travel. The museum showcases a diverse range of art, from modern Japanese painters to European Impressionist paintings, sculpture, and design art, making it a beloved destination for both Sapporo residents and visitors alike.
Diversity in Art – Harmony of Japan and the West

The Nitori Museum of Art's exhibitions span across eras and genres. The fourth floor features works by modern Japanese painters like Yokoyama Taikan and Kawai Kyodo, while the third floor focuses on works by Japanese artists who adopted Western painting techniques. The second floor features a collection of crafts that explore light and form, including sculpture, decorative arts, and some glasswork by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
