Beppu's only seaside sand bath, boasting a century of history, has been newly renovated into Sand SPA. As you lie in the warm sand, a gentle heat envelops you, and the serene ocean view unique to Beppu unfolds before your eyes. Melt away the fatigue of daily life and enjoy the ultimate relaxation experience that warms your body and soul. The highlight, the sand bath, is a healing experience where you can feel Beppu's nature while being snugly covered by warm sand. It is operated 9 times a day, with the hot spring water filled and impurities removed over approximately 30-40 minutes, ensuring the sand is always in optimal condition. Furthermore, the sand is not reused, and the location is rotated, so you can always use it cleanly. It is known to be effective for the following conditions:

Sand SPA Facility Guide

Sand Bath Zone
This is the main area located right in front of Beppu Bay, where you can relax in the warm sand and feel its comforting heat. The sand bath, lasting about 15 minutes while listening to the sound of the waves, is effective for fatigue recovery and blood circulation. The sand is reheated at regular intervals daily, and maintained in a hygienic condition for a clean and pleasant experience. After the sand bath, you can continue with a hot spring bath in the shower and large public bath areas.

Shower Space
A space to thoroughly wash off the sand after the sand bath. Basic amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided, allowing you to wash away both sand and fatigue with warm water.

Changing Room & Makeup Counter
A spacious and clean changing area is available for comfortable changing. Various amenities, including hair dryers and skincare/haircare products, are also provided, making it convenient for a quick refresh after bathing.

Large Hot Spring Bath
After the sand bath and shower, this is a space to fully relax in the hot spring. The expansive bath offers a panoramic view of Beppu's scenery, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely soak while gazing at the sea. The hot spring water has various benefits, including muscle fatigue relief, improved blood circulation, and stress reduction.

Lobby & Bar
A resting area where you can relax after your experience. After bathing, spend some leisurely time with a drink at the on-site bar. Enjoying a drink while looking out at the calm Beppu sea will help you forget your travel fatigue.

Foot Bath
Right next to the facility, there is a free-to-use foot bath. You can lightly experience the atmosphere of Beppu by enjoying a warm soak in the hot spring water.

How to Use

Step 01
Please arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time.
Staff will guide you at your reserved time, and you can change into the provided yukata in the changing room.

Step 02
Now, enjoy the sand bath.
Lie down on the warm sand, and staff will cover you with sand. You can comfortably experience the sand bath for about 15 minutes while listening to the sound of the waves.

Step 03
Rinse off the sand from your body and yukata at the shower.

Step 04
Take your time and relax in the hot spring bath. You can soak in the hot spring, feel the warmth deep within, and enjoy a comfortable rest.

Step 05
Change back into your clothes to conclude your visit. You can also enjoy a drink at the separate bar area. (Additional charge applies)
