Beppu's only seaside sand bath, boasting a century of history, has been newly renovated into the Sand SPA. As you immerse yourself in the warm sand, you'll feel the gentle heat spread out before you, and Beppu's tranquil ocean views unfold before your eyes. Let the fatigue of everyday life melt away, and enjoy the ultimate relaxation experience that will warm your body and mind deeply. The highlight, the sand bath, is a healing experience where you can feel the warmth of Beppu's nature while being covered in warm sand. Nine times a day, over a period of approximately 30-40 minutes, the sand is filled with hot spring water, impurities are removed, and the sand is heated to ensure optimal conditions. Furthermore, the sand is rotated so that it's never used the same way, ensuring a clean and hygienic experience. It's said to be effective for the following conditions:

Rheumatism, degenerative arthritis, neuralgia, frozen shoulder, bruises, sprains, muscle tension, decreased gastrointestinal function, mild hypertension, abnormal glucose tolerance, autonomic instability, hemorrhoids, sleep disorders, depressive symptoms, fatigue recovery, and health promotion.

Sand SPA Facility Guide

Sand Bath Zone
Located directly in front of Beppu Bay, this main area allows you to immerse yourself in the warm sand and feel the relaxing heat. The sand bath, which lasts approximately 15 minutes while listening to the sound of the waves, is effective in relieving fatigue and improving blood circulation. The sand is reheated at regular intervals daily and maintained in a hygienic condition, ensuring a clean and comfortable experience. After your sand bath, you can continue your experience by taking a shower or soaking in the large public bath.

Shower Space (シャワースペース / Shower Space)
After a sand bath, this is the space where you can thoroughly wash off the sand. Basic amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided, and you can wash away both the sand and fatigue with warm water.

Changing Room & Makeup Counter
A spacious and clean changing area provides a comfortable place to change. A variety of amenities, including a hairdryer, skincare products, and hair care products, are also provided, making it ideal for a quick freshening up after a bath.

Large Hot Spring Bath
After a sand bath and shower, you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs. Beyond the spacious bathtub, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Beppu Bay, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely bath while gazing at the ocean. The hot spring water has various benefits, including relieving muscle fatigue, promoting blood circulation, and relieving stress.

Lobby & Bar (ロビー＆バー / Lobby & Bar)
This is a relaxation space where you can take a break after your bathing experience. Afterward, enjoy a drink at the on-site bar and unwind. Enjoying a drink while gazing at the tranquil Beppu sea will help you forget the fatigue of your trip.

Foot Bath
Right next to the facility is a foot bath, open to all for free. Enjoy a warm foot bath using hot spring water and experience the atmosphere of Beppu.

User Guide

Step 01
Please arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time.
When your reservation time arrives, our staff will guide you and you can change into a special yukata in the changing room.

Step 02
Now enjoy the sand bath.
If you lie down on the warm sand, the staff will cover you with sand, and you can enjoy a comfortable sand bath for about 15 minutes while listening to the sound of the waves.

Step 03
In the shower room, wash off the sand from your body and yukata.

Step 04
Enjoy a leisurely soak in the large public bath. Immerse yourself in the hot springs, feel the warmth deep within, and relax in comfort.

Step 05
After changing clothes, you can enjoy a leisurely drink at the separate bar. (Separate fee)
