Pastel de Nata Cooking Class & Port Wine in Porto

What a fantastic class and such a wonderful way to spend our first day in Porto! We did this class with our 3 and 5 year old, and Luis, our chef, was incredibly patient and engaging with them. As a parent, it can be hard sometimes to find an experience that the whole family can genuinely enjoy and this was exactly that! The kids had so much fun and we loved getting to cook and learn together as a family. Thank you, Luis, for making our cooking experience so enjoyable and memorable! We’ll definitely be talking about this experience for a long time.

Wij volgden de workshop van Mike en Rachel en omdat ik een glutenvrije workshop had aangevraagd, kregen wij een aparte werkbank en werd alles heel netjes gescheiden. Wij hebben een hele zorgeloze workshop gehad met een lekker resultaat en ook beide hele gezellige guides.

Sowohl Ana als auch Luis waren sehr kompetent und haben alle wichtigen Schritte genau, aber auf einem sehr gut zu vorstehenden Niveau erklärt. Das Rezept lag auch bereit, weswegen wir die einzelnen Schritte mitverfolgen konnten. Man musste im Workshop mehrmals Teilschritte übernehmen, aber dadurch, dass immer mindestens eine andere Person denselben Teilschritt durchführte, war das Gefühl eines Vorführens vor einer fremden Gruppe nicht zu spüren. Man kommt während des Füllens der Pastel de Nata sowie während des Backprozesses ins Gespräch. Es war eine sehr ausgelassene und positive Stimmung.

Would strongly recommend giving this class a try. Mike, our teacher, gave an overall talk about pastel de nata, the process of how it’s made, and how we were going to set about creating them ourself. He made the experience as exceptional as it was. The gluten-free station we booked onto was clear of any cross contamination, even using pastel de nata tins that are exclusively used for the gluten free sessions. And I’m happy to say our attempt came out really tasty! Overall, this experience was absolutely incredible - but it was made even better by the amazing Mike who was so attentive and kind to us. We had the best time and it exceeded all expectations. Thank you so much!
