This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal! The Douro Valley is breathtakingly beautiful, but what truly made this experience exceptional was our amazing tour guide, Antonio. From the very beginning, Antonio was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and genuinely passionate about the Douro Valley. He shared so many interesting stories and insights about the region, the vineyards, and Portuguese culture. He made the entire day feel relaxed, personal, and incredibly enjoyable. You could tell that Antonio truly loves what he does, and that made such a difference to our experience. Our winery guide, Andreas, was also fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about wine. He made the winery visit fascinating and fun. Antonio and Andreas were the perfect combination for an unforgettable day. If you’re considering a Douro Valley tour, book this one, and hope you get Antonio as your guide! You won’t regret it!

Every guide we met today was absolutely amazing from Manuel and Pedro who looked after us for the day, to Maria and Carlos who cared for us on the boat down the river, then Viviana who did the Port tasting with us. We could not fault anything about our day, and the weather was amazing! Big thanks to Manuel and Pedro, your passion for your country is inspiring, we will take you back to NZ in our memories of Porto!

Manuel was an excellent guide , we appreciated the introductions around the group to start. A very comfortable van with only 6 participants, who all had a great connection very quickly! Douro valley was beautiful, Lenora(?) at the Quinta was knowledgeable and very interesting. I loved the authentic little restaurant in Amarante for lunch. Overall Manuel really made this tour, just the right mix of information, humour, personal connection and choice of music. A great day. Thank you. 🙂
