Explore the hidden caves beneath Buda Castle with a certified guide
Venture beneath the streets of the Buda Castle district and walk through the labyrinthine Buda Castle Cave with your guide. This unique structure was formed over centuries as natural limestone caves were connected with underground cellars and passages. The interior is equipped with lighting and paved walkways, allowing for exploration without specialized caving gear or climbing equipment.
Discover underground spaces steeped in 800 years of history

Learn how these underground spaces have been utilized throughout different eras from your guide. You’ll encounter traces of Buda Castle’s history, from centuries-old storage areas and wine cellars to wartime air-raid shelters.
It’s fascinating to see how the natural caves seamlessly connect with man-made spaces. Experience an atmosphere completely different from the splendid scenery above ground at Buda Castle.
Choose between the Short and Standard Tours

The Standard Tour begins at the Holy Trinity Pillar in Trinity Square, and the Short Tour starts at the cave entrance on Dárda utca 2.
The cave temperature is maintained at around 12°C (54°F) year-round, so we recommend bringing a light jacket and comfortable shoes, even in summer.
