Begin your Grand Canal journey from the Wulinmen Wharf aboard Hangzhou's water bus, a local public transportation. As you travel along the canal, admire the old houses and bridges on the riverbanks, as well as the modern Hangzhou cityscape.

Upon arrival at Gongchen Bridge, you'll have free time to explore the area around the canal. The vicinity of Gongchen Bridge, Qiaoxi Historic Street, Xiaoshan Street, and Dadou Road features old alleys and traditional architecture, making it a great area to explore after disembarking. Please note that water bus routes and schedules are subject to change due to local traffic and water level conditions.

Discover Gongchen Bridge and the Canal's Historic Streets

Visit Gongchen Bridge (拱宸桥), a landmark of the Hangzhou section of the Grand Canal. The area around the canal is home to the China Grand Canal Museum and various cultural spaces introducing traditional crafts and canal culture.

Stroll through Qiaoxi Historic Street and Xiaoshan Street to experience the old Hangzhou along the canal. Museum and cultural facility access may vary depending on their operating days and admission policies.

Enjoy the Night Cruise on the Grand Canal

As the sun sets, board the night cruise from Wulinmen Wharf to see a different side of the Grand Canal. Admire the canal's night view as you pass by West Lake Cultural Square, Chaowang Bridge, Dadou Road, Xiangji Temple, and Xiaoshan Street, all the way to Gongchen Bridge. The Grand Canal night cruise currently departs from Wulinmen Wharf and sails towards Gongchen Bridge.

If you choose the AR experience option, you can wear AR glasses and witness historical stories unfold over the actual canal scenery. Experience legendary scenes at Chaowang Bridge and past canal landscapes at Xiangji Temple and Gongchen Bridge through AR, enjoying a roughly one-hour journey from Wulinmen Wharf to Gongchen Bridge and back.
