Take the Controls of a Small Aircraft with Your Flight Instructor

This is an introductory flight lesson at Accelerated Flight Academy at Van Nuys Airport. Including pre- and post-flight briefings, the entire experience takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Each reservation is for one participant receiving hands-on flight training, and no prior flying experience is required. It's the perfect experience for anyone who wants to try flying for the first time, is considering flight training, or is simply interested in aviation.

Receive a Pre-Flight Briefing and Cockpit Orientation

First, you'll have a pre-flight briefing with your instructor and receive a safety orientation while touring the aircraft. Once you're in the cockpit, you'll learn about the instruments and controls before boarding the Piper Warrior II.

After takeoff, you'll practice basic flight controls under the guidance of your FAA-certified flight instructor, weather conditions permitting. During the flight, you can enjoy views of landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign, Downtown Los Angeles, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica Pier, and the Malibu coastline. After landing, you'll have a debriefing to conclude the flight before returning to the meeting point.
