On this guided night kayak tour, you paddle on the Banana River near Cape Canaveral in search of bioluminescence. In summer, the warm, shallow Banana River is full of plankton that glow when the water moves, so every paddle stroke or hand in the water sparkles with bluish-white light. If you are lucky, you may see fish, manatees, and dolphins leaving glowing trails as they swim beneath your kayak. Kayak, paddle, kayak lights, and water are included, so it is easy to join.

See the Banana River glow
with every paddle stroke
Bioluminescence, known as "living light," comes from dinoflagellates, single-celled organisms commonly found in marine environments. Each one glows for only a fraction of a second when stimulated by moving water, but they are so concentrated in the warm river that swimming fish and paddling kayaks leave beautiful trails of bluish-white light. Everything that moves in the water, including your paddle and hands, lights up.
Check in and get a short briefing

When you arrive at the meeting point, check in with your tour leader and sign the required waiver and assumption of risk forms. You receive a life jacket, kayak, paddle, and kayak light, then set off after a short briefing.
Look for glowing fish and manatees
in warm, shallow water

※ Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, so its brightness and visibility are not guaranteed. It mainly appears in summer.
※ Wildlife such as manatees and dolphins lives in its natural habitat, so sightings are not guaranteed.
