From New York: Washington D.C. Day Tour - Free Time at the Smithsonian Museums

Depart from Times Square
and head to Washington D.C.

Depart from Times Square at the time you booked, with daily departures at 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 AM. Travel south by van or bus and take a break of about 30 minutes in Delaware for breakfast.

Visit the Kennedy graves at Arlington National Cemetery

Pass the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the Pentagon on the way to Arlington National Cemetery, where you spend about an hour with your guide exploring the cemetery, including the graves of the Kennedy brothers. Then take photos at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) and drive past Georgetown and the Embassy of Spain.

Walk past the Lincoln Memorial and war memorials for photos

With your guide, visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial, and take photos at the Reflecting Pool from the movie "Forrest Gump" and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. You can also see the obelisk-shaped Washington Monument.

Back in the vehicle, pass the Organization of American States (OAS), Pennsylvania Avenue, the J. Edgar Hoover Building (FBI) and the National Archives, then get off for photos in front of the White House and the U.S. Capitol.

Enjoy free time at the Smithsonian museums

After the guided tour, you have 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time. Visit one of the 17 free Smithsonian museums, such as the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of American History or the National Museum of the American Indian, or have lunch.

On the way back to New York, take a short coffee break and enjoy a panoramic view of illuminated Manhattan from New Jersey before drop-off near Times Square.
