Snorkel with turtles in the Cook Island Aquatic Reserve, just off Fingal Head south of the Gold Coast. Ride a boat along the Tweed River to the reserve, then explore the shallow waters with a marine biologist guide. Get up close to turtles, rays, leopard sharks and thousands of fish. Wetsuits and snorkeling gear are included, so there is little you need to bring.

Cruise the Tweed River
to the Cook Island reserve
Check in at the Public Jetty in Tweed Heads South, about 5 minutes from Gold Coast Airport, and board the boat. On the way along the Tweed River to the Cook Island Aquatic Reserve, keep an eye out for seabirds, dolphins and other local marine life.
Explore the reserve with a marine biologist guide

Known to the local Aboriginal people as "Djunggarra Nariyan", this protected area is home to turtles and many other marine species. The shallow water is ideal for snorkeling, and your marine biologist guide leads you to the best spots and shares stories about the creatures you see.
Swim with turtles, rays and leopard sharks

Spend about 1.5 hours exploring underwater with a wetsuit, mask, snorkel and fins. Look for turtles, manta rays, eagle rays, harmless leopard sharks and a wide variety of fish, and in winter you may even spot humpback whales. After snorkeling, the boat returns to the Public Jetty where you started.
※ Wildlife lives in its natural habitat, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
※ The tour runs on New South Wales (NSW) time. If you are coming from Queensland, note the 1-hour time difference in summer.
