Depart from the Queenstown waterfront and cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak for about 45 minutes. When booking, you can choose either the historic steamship TSS Earnslaw or the modern catamaran Spirit of Queenstown.

Onboard commentary is provided, and you can buy drinks or snacks at the onboard bar while taking in the calm lake and surrounding mountains.

Enjoy a gourmet BBQ buffet at the Colonel's Homestead

On arrival at the lakeside Colonel's Homestead restaurant at Walter Peak High Country Farm, enjoy lunch or dinner from a BBQ buffet prepared by chefs using the best local produce. The spread includes salads, vegetables, succulent local meats from the wood-fired BBQ, fresh bread, cheese and a variety of desserts.

The restaurant overlooks Lake Wakatipu and the alpine scenery around Queenstown. With its colonial-style architecture and expansive grounds, it is a relaxing place to spend a few hours.

Watch sheepdogs at work in the farm show

After the meal, enjoy a farm show for the whole family. Watch the farm dogs herding sheep and say hello to other farm animals. If time allows, stroll through the lakeside gardens before reboarding for the 45-minute cruise back to Queenstown.
